Proactive approach toward establishing an energy control system and reducing our CO2 emissions
* Economical use of lighting and air-conditioning equipment
* Adoption of the "leading runner approach" in like-for-like replacement
* Introduction of an energy-saving system/new energy resources to new facilities
* Introduction of energy management systems to entire business units
* Use of environment-friendly alternative fuel sources (transition from crude/diesel oil to natural gas)

Logistics

Three major domestic offices (Shiga and Tottori Technical Centers and the Tokyo Office) performed an energy conservation check, which was held at the Head Office's building last year.
An outside energy conservation checking company inspected drawings and energy-related data, held hearings, toured the facilities, and then complied ideas for improvement for each site. The total power-saving rate of all the three sites based on the check result is approximately 17%. Some of the ideas for improvement require facility investment, and each site is studying the cost over efficiency of these ideas. This energy conservation check is planned to be performed at overseas sites as well in FY2007.
