Tree Planting
Participation in afforestation activityEmployees of Nidec Electronic (Thailand)'s Bangkadi Plant planted trees in Muaklek, Saraburi in May 2006 to commemorate the Thai monarch's 60-year rein. 62 employees participated in the planting, which was planned by employees in charge of environmental issues.

Positive Action Program

Nidec Corporation regards female employees' active working and advancement as part of the company's important management policy, and has the following two targets:

- Target for female employees to occupy 20% of the managerial positions by 2015; and
- Target for female employees to occupy 20% of the officers' positions by 2020.

As these targets were issued, our component manufacturers quickly started their positive action program (the PA program) in December 2005.

PA members held a monthly workshop in FY2006, discussed actions needed to "make the workplace a place where women can work most comfortably," and actively engaged in employee surveys, study on Nidec and other companies, internal discussions, and many other activities. Then a PA symposium was held in December 2006, where the members presented their PA Declaration, a statement that lists what our company needs to do for the PA program. The PA members thus made a big leap forward for female employees to be able to work actively. After the PA Declaration was issued, the operation of eight systems started in April 2007 to enable female employees to combine their family lives and their careers.

We will continue the PA program, and make it Nidec's Group-wide program in the future.


Labor Safety Management System
Nidec Corporation is establishing a Labor Safety Management System (OHSAS18001: 1999), which aims to improve the workplace and minimize company management-related risks. This system is to ensure a steady risk control, and continuously improve the workers' safety and hygiene levels and welfare, and their organization's efficiency and social reliability. Nidec Electronic (Thailand)'s Rojana Factory acquired an OHSAS certificate on December 20, 2006, becoming our second site to have established the management system after Nidec (Dalian) Limited. Sports
Speed skating team
skating team of Nidec Sankyo CorporationNidec Sankyo Corporation's Speed Skating Team, which has many of Japan's leading athletes in the sport, are supported by people of the local community and more than 3,000 members of Nidec Group Supporters' Association.
2007 was the first year after the team underwent a major changeover after the 2006 Torino Winter Games. Major achievements by the athletes include Mr. Kenichiro Nagashima's four-time victory in World Cup Speed Skating races. The skaters in the team, having a high-level target to become the world's No. 1 "anytime, anywhere," gestate various strategies for the next season and practice very hard every day.
