Q What is the market demand for small precision motors today?
A We are seeing a major technological transition going on in the market for small precision motors today. Driving the trend is a rising demand for BRUSHLESS DC MOTORS, a new breed of motors remarkably outperforming existing models in their accuracy, durability, controllability and energy economy as well as capacity for foot-print downsizing. It would be safe to say just about every HDD and ODD currently at work in PCs or DVDs for data reading/writing houses a BRUSHLESS DC MOTORS.
BRUSHLESS DC MOTORS have been increasingly favored in a variety of fields, replacing conventional types of motors while expanding the range of new applications that are exclusively met by brushless-motors.

Q How do you assess the growth prospects of the market for automobile small motors?
A The market for automobile-related small motors is one of the most appealing sectors today.
Auto makers around the globe are in the middle of developing eco-friendly, safe, comfortable and energy saving driving environments, where the buzzphrase is "drive by wire."
In a drive by wire system, traditional independently controlled functions including steering, braking, throttle, and suspension, are electronically integrated into a unified control package that instantaneously reads and reacts to various vehicle and driver inputs for enhanced safety.
Traditional mechanical linkage systems are largely replaced with electronic controllers, actuators, sensors and motors. Motors used in a drive by wire system must fulfill rigid quality criteria requiring high controllability, near-zero electromagnetic noise generation and superior durability. The BRUSHLESS DC MOTORS, which naturally clears such technological hurdles, is considered to be the most promising power driver for use in highly sophisticated drive by wire systems.

Q What are your principles for M&A?
A As a specialist in motor manufacturing, we have been driving our business forward with a focus on "things around you that spin and move." Our M&A strategies have strictly adhered to this concept and served to strengthen the foundations of our motor development and production activities. To date all of the group companies we have advanced together with possess state-of-the-art technological edges directly or indirectly related to motor development/production, contributing not only to a comprehensive market scale expansion, but also to creating productive synergies benefiting one another. M&A also offers a great deal as a way to instantly shorten time to market, or otherwise you might say, to "buy the time." In simple terms, M&A for us can be the most straightforward expression of our business doctrines putting significant value on technological competence, scale advantages and speed.

Q Would NAND Flash possibly threaten the HDD market's future growth?
A Both storage devices have their pros and cons. HDD costs far less than flash memory per gigabyte, holds more data and retains it much longer. On the other hand, flash memory is more rugged, power efficient, and, in general, can start up a PC faster than HDDs. Most market experts agree that the both formats will continue on in their separate development paths as the overall data storage market expands and diversifies.
