1973
Jul. Nippon Densan Corporation (now Nidec Corporation) established with capital of \20 million by the current Chairman of the board, President & CEO, Shigenobu Nagamori in Nisikyo-ku, Kyoto, Japan.
Aug. Manufacture and sale of small high-precision AC motors begin.


Corporate office
1974
Oct. Sales Agent opens in the U.S.A.
Nov. Corporate office moves to Omiya, Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto.


Kameoka Factory
1975
Jan. Sales branches open throughout Asia and Europe.
Feb. Kameoka Factory is established in Kameoka City, Kyoto.
Apr. Full-scale production of brushless DC motors begins.
Apr. Tokyo Sales Office opens.


Nidec America Corp.
1976
Jan. Production of small high-precision AC motors for medical equipment begins.
Apr. Nidec America Corp. is established.


 
1978
Sep. Production of small high-precision AC motors for 8-inch floppy disk drives begins.
Oct. Nidec Torin Corp. is established as a joint venture with an U.S.A fan manufacturer, Torin Corp. to develop axial fans for electronic cooling.


Spindle motor for 5.25-inch disk drive
1979
Jan. Electronic controller (motor controller) for massagers is developed.
Oct. Production of spindle motor for 8-inch floppy disk drives begins.


 
1981
May Drive motor for belt-drive 8-inch floppy disk drives is developed.
Nov. Production of spindle motor for 5.25-inch hard disk drives begins.

Jan. Production of small high-precision AC motors for office automation equipment begins.
June Mineyama Plant is established in Mineyama-cho, Naka-gun, Kyoto.
Oct. Full-scale production of brushless DC axial fans begins.
